The USB_RS232 cables are a family of USB to RS232 levels serial UART converter cables incorporating FTDI's FT232RL /PL2303 USB to serial UART interface IC device which handles all the USB signalling and protocols. The cables provide a fast, simple way to connect devices with a RS232 level serial UART interface to USB.
Each USB-RS232 cable contains a small internal electronic circuit board, utilising the FT232R/PL2303, which is encapsulated into the USB connector end of the cable. The other end of the cable is Mini USB5Pin or Micro 5Pin or with other customized connectors.

A: Instead of manually punching in the frequency settings, this cable allows you to program radio stations database to your scanner by your computer with programming software such as FreeSCAN and bcTOOL.
Q: Which prolific chipset does this cable use, and is it compatible with Windows 10?
A: This cable uses more reliable FTDI chipset. It is compatible with all Windows, Mac versions including the latest Windows 10 and Mac 10.13. Note: most free programming software is Windows based.
Q: Where I can download the driver software?
A: Usually this cable is plug and play and driver will be installed automatically by Windows/Mac. However, in rare cases depending on your computer setting, if you need to do manual installation, please go to FTDI website to download the driver. http://www.made-in-china.com/showroom/apple5462
Q: Does it work with BC346XT?
A: Please refer to the compatible models listed in product description. Two things are needed to make it work. First of all, the connector (mini 4P USB) need to be physically fit to your scanner. Secondly, the scanner has to use serial communication protocol and that is what this cable do: translate serial signal from the scanner to USB signal to the computer.
